Illustrated Memoir Storytimes

Storytimes are a great way to share the unique perspectives and experiences shared in the memoirs directly with audiences of all ages. Whether in libraries, book stores, classrooms or community centers in-person storytimes allow for the most direct engagement with the stories and authors. It also provides an excellent opportunity to further develop the intellectual self-trust and self-efficacy of participating authors.

Sharing in CPS elementary schools

In 2025 an Arts Partnership grant from Ohio Arts Council allowed a more focused series of storytimes with students from Aiken High School sharing their memoirs with in a variety of Cincinnati Public School District elementary school classrooms. This was a great opportunity for the young children to ask questions and engage personally with the stories and their authors, making personal connections they will long remember. The impacts of these events will long remain with the young people who were able to read their memoirs to such engaged and receptive audiences.

Partnership with Cincinnati Public Library

For the last two years we have partnered with Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library to film project participants reading their memoirs in the stacks at the downtown branch. We hope these videos can provide an chance for more young people than we can get to in person to experience these vibrant authors reading their memoirs.

We would love to come read to you

If you are a classroom teacher, book store owner, librarian or community center director and you are interested in young people paying a visit to share their memoirs please reach out. We strive to share these memoirs as widely as possible.
